10.05.16 Dollywood Day 1, Pigeon Forge, Tennessee

Wednesday, October 5, 2016 – This past Friday we traveled from Georgia, through North Carolina

on our way to Dandridge, Tennessee.

The RV park we are staying at is not a top notch place, but it is quiet and I feel safe.  We have a nice couple staying next to us, Dennis and Cindy, who have recently started their RV life. We are about 30 minutes from all that is exciting in Pigeon Forge and Sevierville.

On Sunday we went to Dollywood.  Dollywood is a theme park jointly owned by entertainer Dolly Parton and Herschend Family Entertainment. It is located in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee and hosts over 3 million guests in a typical season.

Dollywood is the biggest “ticketed” tourist attraction in Tennessee.

We originally planned to go there for three days, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Circumstances narrowed that down to Sunday and Monday which turned out to be plenty of time for us to see and do everything we could do.  Seniors are allowed to go in at 3 pm for free when they buy a full day pass for a different day.  That’s what we did!

Sunday’s three hour visit allowed us to walk through a lot of the park, seeing all we could. Here are some of the Harvest decorations and sights we saw on Sunday.

 

We rode this ride on Monday and got soaking wet.  I loved it, Roy not so much.  He doesn’t like rides like this that get you wet but he was a good sport about it!

We also road the Dollywood Locomotive around the park and surrounding area.  The photo above includes the locomotive. Here are photos taken from the locomotive.

After that we road the Ferris Wheel.

We saw a country show and heard some beautiful Gospel music throughout the park.

On our way out we wanted to tour Dolly’s tour bus but it was closed but here it is.  We did get to go inside on Monday, very classy bus!

When I looked at the park map later I realized we only walked through maybe half the park on Sunday.  Still a lot to see and much more to do on Monday! And believe me we did some awesome stuff!
