Luke 8: 1-3 After this, Jesus traveled about from one town and village to another, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom of God. The Twelve were with him, and also some women who had been cured of evil spirits and diseases: Mary (called Magdalene) from whom seven demons had come out; Joanna the wife of Chuza, the manager of Herod’s household; Susanna; and many others. These women were helping to support them out of their own means.

*Today’s message is meant to empower the women in our churches to serve God more, not less

-If a woman walks out of here thinking less of herself and God’s view of her, she did not understand the intended purpose

-If a man walks out of here with an elevated view of himself… it is not the purpose

1) Jesus was Bringing the Good News (Luke 8:1)

*His purpose for coming was clear…

-He came to be and to proclaim the good news of the kingdom of God

-When He preached He would often tell the people two things… Repent and believe on Me

2) His Disciples Were With Him (Luke 8:1)

*It was these 12 named men that Jesus set aside for a special ministry

-He poured a significant amount of time and energy into these 12

-They were indeed His disciples… they followed Him where He went… they slept there

-They preached what He said to preach… they left it all to come and follow Him

3) He had Women with Him (Luke 8:2-3)

*They provided out of their means

-It seems that much of the ministry that Jesus did was funded by women

-So much for kick your shoes off, get in the kitchen, clean the house and raise the babies

-These women supported Jesus and the disciples… from their means

-He mentions one that managed the household of the King at that time

-That is no small task to oversee such a big operation

4) The Importance of Women in the Advancing of the Gospel

*Woman came to the tomb

-The very first people to discover the risen Lord… It was faithful women

*Lydia was one who would support the ministry of Paul

-Acts 16:14-15

5) The Difference in Role b/w Male and Female

*The Bible clearly teaches a difference b/w the male and female

-Different not less or more than

-We see this first of very clearly in the creation of man first… And then God created woman

-In this order we see one who is created first and one who is created next… and different

-While also being similar… I’ll come back to this

*God has also set man as the spiritual leader and head in the home

-Ephesians 5:22-24

-This is clear from scriptures as well… Female Pastors in the church would undermine God’s created order within the home

*Women in Ministry: It is a no brained… 75% of the world is either women or boys 15 and under

-Women has a profound impact on the entire world by their ministry

-We should never discredit it or act as if it is less than the men…

-Their opinions and wisdom are very much needed in the church… be mindful of this

*There is hardly a man that is a Christian that was not greatly influenced by a Christian woman

-However… God set man up to lead other men spiritually…

-And to lead the home and to lead the church
