You know the saying, “What does not kill you makes you stronger.” This move came within an inch of killing me and exhausting Kendal. Are we mentally stronger? Not so much. Are we physically stronger? Yes. We are entirely worn out, but pushing around box after box after box has surely boosted our physical strength.
We planned for a September 29th moving date since that was the last date on our Purchase Agreement to finalize the house sale. It ended up being September 26th which was perfect for us since it was a Friday afternoon!
We weren’t moving any big furniture. Only an ottoman, a gas small table, small kitchen table and chair s and a rocker. In preparation for the move we put a lot of our winter clothing and holiday decorations in storage.

We began the packing to move process by ordering 10 medium size moving boxes and some small boxes. Then 10 more. Then a couple more. I seemed to have forgotten sometimes that we were downsizing and couldn’t move everything. Kendal forgot too!
We sorted out enough things that we didn’t need, or couldn’t take with us, to have two yard sales. We gave away a whole slew of things the day after each sale. Still, we filled every box and some plastic tubs with things we wanted to keep.
Of all the pictures I take, there isn’t one of the boxes at the house or when they arrived at the RV!
Until the last couple of days of our packing, each box was packed with items from a specific room. I wrote a list of contents on each box and marked the room they needed to end up in at the RV.
The last couple of days packing was a free-for-all. I just wanted everything in boxes for moving day. Any box! I am paying for that now that we are unpacking!

I did one smart thing the last day. I marked one box Essentials and tossed in there everything we would personally need the first night and next day (phone chargers, etc.) at our new home. That helped a lot.
Most of the boxes were loaded in Amite and unloaded in Livingston by family and friends. Stronger people than Kendal and I. Thank goodness!
The actual moving was a two day event. Not because there was a lot to move, but some could help on Saturday and others could help on Sunday.
Thank you Billy, Lyn, David, Keith, Chad, Jacob and Caroline, from the bottom of our hearts for that labor of love.

When I wrote this last week, we were finished unloading all but four plastic tubs outside. Only two of those are still there! Not everything is where it belongs yet, but I am slowly finding a place for most of our things. My kitchen counter space is half what I had at the house, so that’s taking some creative planning!
We brought more of our winter clothes and some summer clothes to the storage units because our closet only fits one season’s worth. While there, we picked up Buddy’s doggie fence panels and stakes and my baker’s rack. Now that several of my precious plants are on the baker’s rack, it looks a lot neater on our patio. Well, except that the 3-foot-high stack of fence panels was piled up there until we assembled it!
One very helpful event will be Lakeside’s Yard Sale in November! When we arrived at the park office last week, I saw that sign and was almost giddy! We have a lot that we can’t keep, but we didn’t realize this until we moved in here. I’ve already signed up to participate in the sale. We are storing all the stuff for the sale in the big storage bin under the RV. That is a project all in itself.
I truly thought I just had the last yard sale I would ever have, but it seems there is one more in my future! Good thing I saved my pricing stickers. They are somewhere around here!
Kendal and I have been cranky old folks the last few days with all of this work and having to figure out where every single thing will live. I have to admit a bunch of things are not organized within their cabinet or drawer but that will come eventually! Since I wrote these four of the six cabinets/drawers that needed organizing are done. Only two more areas to go!

I knew we wouldn’t have the same pantry space as at the house, but we can only fit about one-third of it in the new pantry. That’s one of the unorganized places I just tackled and overcame.
Another area includes cabinets where my craft items. are stored. Since I had an entire room at the house dedicated to crafts, known as the “Rock Room,” this is one that will take serious will power to condense what I have into the room I have available here!
Each evening we’ve stopped when it started getting dark and sat under the shade of our oak tree looking out at the pond. Buddy gets a good walk then and enjoys resting out there with us! We take a lot of breaks while we are working since there is no pressure to get it all done by a deadline.

We put up the doggie fence and decorated our patio with our plants, chairs, small end tables, and other things. Buddy has a good area of grass where he can do his “thing” and can be let outside without needing a leash. Well, he can once we get the chicken wire to keep him from crawling under the RV to get out in places where a fence won’t go. That is next on our project list, which will require me to crawl and scoot around under the RV to attach the wire. For Buddy I will do that!

Hopefully, we’ll get to it soon!
Ya’ll come back now, ya’ hear!
