2025, My life

08.06.25 What are the McDaniels up to now??

Like I do sometimes, this is mostly for documentation to help me remember in the future. But we also want y’all to know our big news, so here it is!

As we get older, the yard work and housework we previously did with ease and enjoyment can become more and more difficult and not so much fun anymore.

I was 60 when we purchased the land and built our home here in Amite. Flowers and bushes and bulbs and more flowers and bushes and bulbs were planted all over the property. Then fruit trees and more fruit trees were planted. All requiring maintenance on a regular basis. It’s become very difficult for Kendal and I to take care of all that is needed out here in the country, so………….

Between that reason and the fact that we live very far away from our church, our doctors and our families, we’ve decided to……….

Sell our house! Buy an RV! And move to a RV park!

Hopefully, August 18th we will put our house up for sale and list it on Marketplace and our facebook accounts. I want to try selling it ourselves first, just for a week. If we haven’t sold it by then, our most wonderful real estate agent, Jamie Johnson, will list it for us the official way!

We don’t know how long it will take to sell the house, but when it does, we will purchase an RV Fifth Wheel to live in. The RV (it will have a name, of course), Kendal and Rosalyn will live at Lakeside RV Resort in Livingston. Kendal lived there for several years. It’s where he lived while we were dating. I love it there and so does he. We plan to have a spot by the 17 acre lake where we’d stake out our new life as RVers, again!

If you’ve followed my blog for long you remember Roy and I lived in a motor home and traveled. Well, Kendal and his late wife Jan lived in a 5th Wheel and also traveled! So we’ve both lived in RVs before and know what to expect.

Plans can change. We might not sell the house or it may take a while to do that. I’m such an optimistic person that I truly believe we will sell it in a reasonable length of time.

We are getting the house ready to begin showing. There is a method to staging a house so it looks its best in a way that will allow buyers to be able to picture themselves living in our home. I like that and am working hard right now on a long list I made to help us accomplish that goal. Kendal has his short list and does them as he can.

Every room is getting a major clean out. The closets look so spacious with half our clothes removed. Every thing not necessary to keep and any clutter was removed from every room, pantry, laundry room and hall closet.

We’ve rented a storage unit in Livingston to store the things we will move with us. That gets a lot out of our home to help it show better.

Our trash pickup company had us scheduled for a bulk pickup last week and one next Wednesday. Chip is doing the same thing we are to get ready to move when we sell the house. Not with us, but at the same time.

As we did when planning to live in Dora, our motorhome, we will be selling or giving away everything we can’t take with us.

A yard sale is planned for TOMORROW AND SATURDAY! Christmas, Fall, Easter decorations, furniture, kitchen items, a lot of household items, furniture, computer monitor, some clothes will be for sale.

Our lawnmower went in for repairs 3 weeks ago and the grass looked like a jungle. Kendal picked it up Saturday and did his grass cutting magic resulting in the lawn looking beautiful again!!!

So that’s our big news. This will be a major change for us. One that we are really looking forward to!

Please pray that we make wise decisions and don’t kill each other as we go along this journey!

Since we are crazy busy I will be taking a break from my blog publishing. See y’all back here soon!

Y’all come back now, ya’ hear!
