Several years ago my niece Dana wrote a blog post about what she believed. I began thinking about what I believe. What am I willing to fight for?
Listed below are the core of those things for me. I was surprised as I compiled this list how many thing I firmly believe. This list is very different than the list I would have written when I was younger. I guess a lifetime of experiences builds firm beliefs. It has even changed more since the first time I published this post in 2014!
Here they are!
I believe that God is sovereign
I believe that the Holy Bible is the inerrant word of God
I believe that God wants all his human creations to accept him as their Lord and Savior. I do not believe that God chose only certain people for salvation and chose to send others to Hell.
I believe that positive reinforcement of good behavior is more important than negative consequences for bad conduct in children.
I believe that a woman does not have the right to choose abortion over life.
I believe that ADD and ADHD are real and while some children are misdiagnosed, others are correctly diagnosed and deserve treatment and understanding.
I believe that inappropriate language is unacceptable in any setting.
I believe that the people living in RV parks are the kindest, friendliest, and safest people to live around.
I believe we found the perfect RV park for Kendal, Buddy and I to live in.
I believe that God has a purpose for everything and everyone that enters our lives.
I believe we are to be kind in all situations.
I believe Christians have a relationship with God. I don’t believe in religion.
I believe that LSU sports are the best in the country.
I believe that homeschooling is the best way to educate our children.
I believe that Southern Baptist are a people of deep beliefs and cherished doctrines. And that these beliefs and doctrines are most in line with the Word of God than any other denomination.
I believe that baptism is full body immersion symbolizing a believer’s death to sin, the burial of the old life, and the resurrection to walk in newness of life in Christ Jesus. Baptism is not something that should be performed on infants who have not made that decision for themselves.
I believe that broken family relationships should be repaired, before it is too late.
I believe in the healing power of forgiveness and second chances.
I believe that God chose both of my husbands, Kendal and Roy, specifically for me.
I believe that a spouse dying is the most profoundly life changing experience one can have.
I believe in the Trinity being God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
I believe in miracles and the power of prayer.
I believe that the men and women of our American military are all heroes.
I believe that a fetus is a human from the moment of conception and that when a fetus is aborted it is murder.
I believe that a child’s love heals many wounds.
I believe that God alone gives true joy and true peace.
I believe that God intended for marriage to be only between a man and a woman.
I believe that the beauty of God’s world came alive before me as I traveled throughout this amazing country of ours!
After compiling all of this I see that my beliefs are mostly formed by my faith. And I like that!
Now that you know what I believe in, maybe you’ll take some time and ponder what it is that you deeply believe in, that you’d be willing to fight for? What are the big beliefs in your life?
Ya’ll come back now, ya’ hear!
