05.15.26 The worse part of living in an RV Park is …

I’ve written often about lots of wonderful things we’ve experienced by living in an RV Park, specifically Lakeside RV Park. Some photos to show the beauty and why we love it here!

Well today I am going to share about the worst part. This is something we are experiencing and not liking it one bit. That is….

When people we’ve come to know and love, MOVE to somewhere away from this park.

This post took me two weeks to put together. I wanted to do right by these folks, so I got kind of picky and that takes a while in my world!

Our first neighbors were Bonnie and Brad on one side and Rene’ and Ron on the other side. We loved having both couples as our neighbors.

Bonnie and Brad were dedicated Alabama football fans. Lots of outside Alabama decor greeted us when we would arrive home each time! We are just as deeply LSU fans. We all chose to be respectful of each other’s love for their teams and became friends despite our college choice!

They were so helpful to us old folks whenever they saw us needing some assistance with what we were doing. We enjoyed talking to them and learning about their life. They lived here for five years. Early this year Bonnie and Brad had the opportunity to move to a fancy dancy RV Park in Key West Florida. Even though it meant they had to move away from us, they went…..

When they moved they gave us their two large outdoor storage containers, their personal firepit and all three of their giant planters (which I’ve filled with flowers and ferns). Those planters had 4x4s in each pot which we hung a string of lights from one to the other.

All that giving was after we grew to like them a lot! This is these dear folks the day before they left. We miss their presence in our world but are happy they are living in a great place.

Next, Reneโ€™ and Ron were our neighbors on the other side of us. They still live there but Ron now works away from home on the road so he is seldom around for weeks at a time. We love both of them and are so happy Rene is not traveling with him so we have her still here to visit with! And she is one of the coolest ladies around. She loves to fish and we get to watch her fishing from our living room window! She now works in the office for the RV park so she’s gone more than she was. It’s quiet over their way. We keep up with Ron through Rene but it’s just not the same as having that wonderful couple together as our neighbors. I am so thankful they haven’t both taken off and that we still get to see and visit with our neighbor Rene’. Ron comes home this weekend so all will be well on our neighbor’s site!

When we first moved here Roy and Bonnie Whatley lived across the street from us. Maybe it was us (but I surely hope not – I know it’s not) but they moved to the front of the park in the first site. While it wasn’t the same as them being close by we did see them when they would ride in their golf cart around the park and stop to visit with us. Then, some changes were made to the staffing here and Roy’s position was eliminated. That’s a whole other story, but they moved to Arizona to a park out there that they’ve really liked staying in the past. They plan to move back in October but that leaves May, June, July, August, and September with no Bonnie and Roy around here to enjoy their company :( Bonnie is in the passenger seat of their golf cart in our Mardi Gras parade. The other two photos are the day they moved. Roy is the guy in the pinkish shirt hooking up his golf cart. Bonnie is in the middle picture acting like she’s crying because they were moving.

Rosemary and Bob moved next door in January when Brad and Bonnie moved to Florida. Bob worked here and we got to see him all the time when he’s making his rounds in his golf cart taking care of business! We knew Bob from a park event when we played Bingo at his table. Then we learned his wife Rosemary was the Bingo caller that night. She was very good at it, told lots of jokes that night and every time we played Bingo after that. When we became neighbors, we started visiting often with one or both of them.

First thing we found in common is that we are all Christians. How nice it was to share our love for our Lord and how good He is to us!

We also found we all loved playing Mexican Train and started playing in our Camper’s Lounge here at the park. They taught us to play a card game called SkyJo which we’d never played before but really enjoyed playing it with them!

Rosemary and I found a common love for plants and flowers. She gave me several cuttings of her plants and I gave her our baker’s rack to put some of her plants on. We also found we could share about our lives with each other in our frequent visits. That started making our friendship very special.

When their precious granddaughter Bailey came to visit, she would come over and paint rocks with me and even hid some for me. She is a much better artist than I am, so it was fun to see what she created! She came with us down to the doggie park and threw the ball to Buddy many times that day. Buddy was loving having a young arm throwing!

They also lived here for five years when one day they shared with us that they were looking for a house to purchase and would be selling their fifth wheel. WHAT??

The happy new homeowners

I already miss their presence and will even miss young Bailey’s painting visits with me. We got to know Rosemary and Bob better than anyone else that left. We have been staying in touch which I am very happy about. Our time playing games with them was cut short when they moved but we promised each other we’d get together at their new home to play as soon as they settle in there. Update: They’ve invited us for lunch and to play games one day next week!!!

We’ve had a young single lady move in next door where Rosemary and Bob lived. She has a little dog, Buster Brown. And an older single lady moved in across the street where Roy and Bonnie lived. She has a little dog, Chica. They are very nice and we are getting to know all of them!

At least now we know first hand that everyonedoe’t stay in the same place. We plan to be here until Jesus comes for us so neighborscom and going just has to be accepted by us. Don’t have to like it but that’s the way it is!
