10.27.26 THE COMMISSIONERS, A DELICIOUS LUNCH AND TIME WITH MY BIG SISTER!

Trinity’s JOY (Just Older Youth) senior adult group has activities every so often. Our October event was hearing a young gospel quartet perform from William Carey College in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. The performance, followed by a delicious lunch, was held at First Baptist Church in Covington last week.

My sister tries to attend the events there that we attend so we have some time together! She’s a member of FBCC, so I always get to meet friends of hers and get to introduce her to my Trinity friends! My Trinity friends who knew our mom always like to meet Ms. Jo’s other daughter!

Rosalyn, Harriett and George

We had the privilege of reciting the Pledge of Allegiance and singing the National Anthem with all those in attendance. As Veterans Day is coming up, First Baptist of Covington honored all the Veterans (including Kendal and George) and their spouses (including Harriett and me!) with a handsewn patriotic pillowcase. The photo on the bottom below is one of the sewing ladies handing a pillowcase to my brother-in-law George. When we got them home and unwrapped them we could see how very nice and well made they are.

The Commissioners were delightful to see and hear! They sang gospel quartet songs that most of us knew by heart, having loved them our whole lives! They also sang songs written by one of the members. That was quite special to hear words and music composed by a young person in the old gospel style of music! There was certainly a lot of toe tapping going on that day!

The videos below are just short clips of the beautiful gospel music we enjoyed!

These kids are young but already very talented! We enjoyed every song they sang.

After the concert there was a door prize ticket drawing. We sadly didn’t win anything :(

We then enjoyed a delicious meal catered by the Rusty Pelican. Amazing lasagna, fresh vegetables and bread pudding.

That wraps up our latest JOY event! Our Christmas luncheon will be next!

Ya’ll come back now, ya’ hear!
