06.08.26 Celebrating Ella Marie’s High School Graduation

My oldest grandchild Ella Marie graduated from high school this year at age 17. She is a strong Christian, so kind, smart, grounded and confident that I cannot wait to see what her future holds.

Ella plans to major in Communication Sciences and Disorders at Louisiana State University and has her schedule set for this Fall. She will begin college with 32 college credits which means she will be a sophomore her first day! She earned 18 credits taking dual enrollment courses her Junior and Senior years in high school and 14 Spanish credits because of her CLEP exam score. For those who don’t know, a CLEP exam allows students to earn college credits by demonstrating proficiency in a subject without taking the full course.

From a precious little girl to a beautiful young lady Ella Marie!

The graduation was held at Zoar Baptist Church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. This is where my son Chad and daughter-in-law Amy’s kids do the co-op work part of their homeschooling. Ella and her three siblings have all been homeschooled by their very smart Mom, Amy.

Cornerstone Homeschool Co-op is a collection of families from a variety of Christian denominations who align their hearts and lives to reflect the example that Jesus left for us. They meet on Tuesdays and each child can choose up to five classes to take each semester. A parent is required to teach one class and assist with other classes. Amy taught Physical Science this year. The Co-op’s purpose is to support each other in their homeschool endeavors through a Biblical worldview. You will find an environment of faith and a Christian worldview in all of their classes and activities.

The graduation ceremony!

This was shared on the screen and I found it so perfect for a group of Christian kids’ graduation

The traditional cap toss was enjoyed by all of them!

A lovely reception followed where we were able to take family photos. On the tables were set up poster boards made by each graduate. Ellaโ€™s board shared her many interests and photos of fun times with friends and family. I’ve been reading her favorite books, and they are very unique and interesting!

Chad and Amy treated Amy’s parents, Dale and Pat, Kendal and me, and our grandkids to an amazing dinner at Texas de Brazile, a Brazilian Steak House in the Perkin’s Rowe area of Baton Rouge. It’s a very nice and unique restaurant. Kendal and I had never been there before and thoroughly enjoyed it!

The waiters/servers are always walking through the restaurant with these huge skewers cutting off a serving of whatever you want as often as you want! These were the meat offerings: Picanha, Brazilian Sausage, Barbecued Pork Ribs, Leg of Lamb, Lamb Chops, Filet Mignon, Flank Steak, Chicken Breast Wrapped in Bacon, Spicy Sirloin, Parmesan Pork Loin and Filet Mignon Wrapped in Bacon

It was a beautiful day and evening celebrating Ella Marie and her high school graduation! Every aspect of the day was special to this Grannie’s heart! She’ll always be the first one to make me a Grannie. She has a special place in my heart and always will.

I LOVE YOU AND CONGRATULATIONS ELLA MARIE!

Madisyn, you’re up next!!
