Don’t forget that there is a sermon from my church at the bottom of each post! You will be greatly blessed by listening to it!
There are a bunch of photos in this post so to see all of a picture, instead of just the portion that is shown, be sure to click on it. When the whole picture comes up you can then click on the right arrow to see each one in that group!

Cindy, Sandy, Donna and I (and Angelique, Becki and Jacqueline) worked together for many years in the Office of Technology at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, Louisiana. Cindy, Sandy, Donna and I have all since retired and still live in the area.
They used to pick up Wendy’s and come to my home in Amite from time to time. We’d sit out on the patio and enjoy our meal and catching up.
Recently we began rotating where we meet by going to one of our homes every three months or so. It’s a very special time where we catch up on our lives and enjoy a meal together. Their thoughts on our gathering can be seen throughout this post.

I am so glad we decided to set aside time to gather with our friends (coworkers) from time to time. I look forward to seeing each of them! It makes my heart feel full. There is a comfort sharing anything in this group, as we are a transparent bunch. Some of the things we talk about in our group should, perhaps, stay in our group. Or maybe not!!
We met at Cindy’s home in Albany in May and had a wonderful time. Cindy cooked a delicious baked spaghetti casserole, garlic bread, and salad.

Donna is the baker of the group, always baking the best cakes, cupcakes and muffins. When we all were still working, from time to time she’d bring a whole basket of muffins for everyone in the office to enjoy! For our time at Cindy’s, she made some blueberry muffins and Italian Cream cupcakes for us, and we devoured them just like we did Cindy’s meal
Donna-
Getting together with “the girls” is always a treat. We have shared many years of our lives together… good and bad… happy and sad! Our discussion topics have changed since we’re all retired now, but the enjoyment of us all being together hasn’t changed a bit! Love these ladies!!
Springtime is the best time to visit Cindy’s home. She has the most beautiful flowering plants all around her property. Her son’s family lives nearby and has chickens that roam onto Cindy’s property. She keeps wire wrapped around the flower beds to stop them from feasting on the flowers.

Our hostess Cindy
Luncheons with my Southeastern ladies are by far one of the highlights of my retired life. It is so enjoyable to meet with these ladies to share our stories and a meal. I worked with them weekday after weekday for many, many years. They were my work family and just because we don’t see each other like that anymore, doesn’t mean I don’t love and care about them.
This luncheon was held at my home. I was delighted to prepare a meal for them as well as show off my flower gardens. Even though we are all retired-with all that extra time on our hands-it’s difficult for us to plan and meet at the scheduled date and time. I think it took us having to reschedule 3 times before we finally got together. So even with all the extra time, sometimes it just doesn’t work out. We didn’t give up though, and it all turned out to be another memorableย time withย each other. We depart saying our dismal goodbyes but cheerfully looking forward to our next luncheon!
Lemons, lemons everywhere around Cindy’s living room and dining room. Beautiful cut flowers from the gardens and potted plants also decorated the living room. And the grandkids even brought in a chicken for a visit!

Cindy’s precious dog Oakley was so cute I almost wanted to take her home with me! How could anyone resist that face of hers!!

Our next get together will be at Donna’s home around August so keep an eye out for a post about that fun event!
Ya’ll come back now, ya’ hear!
