What started out as our every few months lunch get together with a few of us girls from Southeastern grew to include an amazing day at Old Rusty Gate Farm making goat’s milk soap. We then went on over to Donna’s home to enjoy the meal she prepared for us!

ROSALYN, DONNA, CINDY, SANDY, AND LILLY MAKE GOAT’S MILK SOAP AT THE FARM

Ya’ll know my friends Donna, Cindy, Sandy and now you’ll get to meet a new member of our Southeastern girl’s group, Lilly! We are in this order in the photo below:
Top: Lily and Cindy
Bottom: Donna, Sandy and me (Rosalyn)

After we arrived at Old Rusty Gate Farm, met our teacher Sarah Allen, and learned a bit about our class, we each got to slice a block of soap that was made the previous day by Sarah and her daughters.

We learned so much and had so much fun experiencing making goat’s milk soap! Ingredients included various oils, lye, goat’s milk, fragrance and an added element of our choice in the mix and on top of the mix once it set up in the mold. Mine is topped with oats and dried blue hydrangea leaves with oats also in the mix. I’ve been told that the oats are an excellent exfoliate.

Our finished products! Rectangular containers of soap that will be sliced into individual soap bars.

I hope that got everyone wanting to make goat’s milk soap there and discover all about the Old Rusty Gate Farm. Sandy, who didn’t want to make goat’s milk soap at first, ended up having a great time and said she was very happy she joined us!
A link to their website and their Facebook page is at the bottom of this post. I’ll share a bit about them first.

The farm is located right off Highway 190 in Livingston. It was warm the day we went so our class was inside. I believe most of the time it is held outside in an open, but covered, work area. Their daughters have a Coffee Kart next to the outdoor work area where you can purchase coffee and other delicious items.

Each week she offers several meals where she prepares all the ingredients, you cook it in your crockpot and here you have an easy, healthy meal for your family. Only $25 a meal and each one serves 2-4. Contact Sarah for more info as I haven’t tried this yet but I will be trying my first one soon!

That’s all I got for ya’ about the farm. Really, truly check it out at their webpage or on facebook. Links included at the bottom of this post.

LUNCH WITH THE GIRLS AT DONNA’S HOME
Now on to our former boss lady Donna Methvien’s home for meal and our usually catching up on each other’s lives!
We were so into eating and visiting that I only took two photos! The most important, most delicious thing, our food! Donna is a wonderful cook and prepared for us homemade chicken salad on croissants, homemade potato soup with all the toppings. No photo of the amazing dessert – homemade vanilla ice cream layered with crumbled vanilla wafers and pecan pieces, topped with a…… drum roll please……homemade chocolate sauce. Only Donna!!!
Not only did she feed us all that but she let each of us take a whole meal including dessert to our folks back home. Kendal was a very happy hubby that evening! We also were given four homemade fresh blueberry muffins which Kendal and I enjoyed for breakfast the next morning.

Notice our napkins followed the Farm theme of the day!
We always enjoy visiting and did a lot of that on our very happy full tummies! Thank you Donna for outdoing even yourself! She was a wonderful boss and has been and still is a wonderful, dear friend!
